An important change involving DUII cases was implemented with the beginning of 2012. Criminal defendants entering into the DUI Diversion program (for first-time offenders, or first offense in 15 years, and meet certain requirements) now are required to have an ignition interlock device (IID) installed in their vehicles.
Previously IIDs could only be required upon a conviction.
So, if you plan on entering the DUII Diversion program, be prepared to have an interlock device installed in your vehicle.
