Oregon, like most states, has a sex offender registration requirement. Oregon law requires people convicted of sex crimes to register as a sex offender. However, certain offenders are eligible for relief from registration or from the requirement to register at all.
If the conviction is for Rape in the Third Degree and the offender meets certain requirements (including being within five years of age of the victim, the victim’s lack of consent was due to incapacity to consent by reason of being underage, the victim was at least 14 years old, no other sex crime convictions other than those involving this victim). Additionally, Oregon does not use the term “statutory rape” or “statutory sodomy” in defining the different levels of sex crimes and those dealing with offenders and victims within a certain age range.
